I’m doing a wedding right now. Wanted to move the car during the ceremony. Wouldn’t start. After checking he fuses and the battery, and getting some useless advice from a German oldtimer, I wacked the starter. It started!

Yes, that often works. You’ll need a new starter though unless you want to keep hitting it every other day.

been there, carried a ball pien under the seat until i got motivated enough to fix it.
